This summer was the busiest summer ever for A&Es in England.
This October there was a record high of over 2 million A&E attendances and over half a million emergency emissions.
At the start of December there was a record 1099 patients in flu beds every day. In addition beds are needed for patients with other current virus.

ALL THIS IS BEFORE THE DEPTHS OF WINTER AND THE CRUNCH WEEKS!
There are not enough ambulances…..They must queue for hours at A&E until their patients are booked in…….because A&Es have no spare beds……because there are no spare beds on the wards…..because many patients can’t be moved until a social care package is there to help them when they are fit to go home.
WHY?
Understaffing…………..Privatisation………………Outsourcing………………Reorganisations………………..Defunding……………..Money diverted from patient care to private profit……… PFIs are a main cause of the cuts in the number of hospital beds in England, which have fallen by a half over the last 30 years.
THE GOVERNMENT FIDDLES WHILE THE MEDICAL STAFF DESPAIR
Do Starmer and co have a plan? NO!
Do they seem to care about patients as they face the winter? NO!
Instead they have just cut winter-fuel allowance and dropped the 2-child benefit cap.
They don’t train enough doctors and nurses.
Social care is almost all privatised and not fit for its essential role.
They leave the rich not contributing their fair share of tax and spend billions on foreign wars but do nothing to support GPs and NHS hospitals which struggle with staff shortages, with PFI debts and crumbling buildings. Instead they punish hospitals which don’t ‘perform’ and cut their spending.
